Project meeting at Belgrade University
May 2023
Despite major obsctacles from the start, the project team has worked really well together with high motivation. We have masted a bumpy project start, we have survived the COVID-19 pandemic and we most of our project targets are either close to be achieved or at least in sight to be realised. The extension has granted us important time for this. However, to tie the knot, bring all results together and to deliver and communicate the key results to the stakeholders we apply for additional funds for the synthesis of the projects. This is essential because ANKLIWA-DS has stepped into unknown terrain with uncertain data basis and has really lighthouse character in the region. We are about to deliver something truly innovative based on dynamic species distribution maps, dynamic productivity maps, process-based forest growth simulations, stakeholder participation and detailed interviews/surveys. We thus bring together natural science and social science to develop robust adaptation strategies to climate change. Stakeholders from public or forest enterprises, politicians and also nature conserbation are an integral part that need to be informed and the information to be delivered in their mother tongue. We thus work on the application for additional funds from the BLE for a synthesis phase.
